During the conference, a half-day city tour will be organized. The tour will include Potala Palace and some other hot scenic spots in the list of places to visit. After the conference, an optional travel in Tibet will be provided by local travel agencies on participants’ own expenses. Two suggested schedules are given in this page. A 3-day tour costs about RMB 2,300—3,000 per person. The expense includes transportations, tour guide, entrance tickets, daily food in 3 days, and hotel for 2 nights. Please note that the costs of the tours heavily depend on the size of the tourist group. Because of the vast land of Tibet, a large proportion of the costs is for transportation. A group of ideal size will make the transportation, and therefore the total costs, cheaper. |

LODGE: Conference is planned to be held at Himalaya Hotel, a 3-star Hotel near Tibet University. The up limit of the price of a standard double room in the hotel now is set at RMB440. Comparing to RMB360, the actual price we got for the ICM-2002 satellite conference, the price is more than 20% higher. But it seems still reasonable, as small inflation exists in the last few years on one hand, and the establishment of Qinghai-Tibet railway makes Lhasa a hot tourist spot especially during the summer time on the other hand. We still hope that the actual price may be lower than the up limit, and we will do our best for it. Rooms in a cheaper guest house nearby is also available (for students only). |
