    1)  Arrival at the Airport in Shanghai

  • There are two airports in Shanghai, one is Pudong International Airport, its code on your air ticket is PVG, and the other is Hongqiao International Airport, coded as SHA.

Pudong International Airport is located at the extremely east end of Shanghai, about 60 kilometers to the campus of East China Normal University (ECNU), the venue of the conference.

Hongqiao International Airport is not far from the ECNU, on the west edge of the city, about 15 kilometers to the campus.

There will be local support for participants arriving and transfer to the campus or hotels. You are expected to let the Secretariat know in advance your arrival detailed information such as arrival airport, time, flight number, etc.

    2)  Transfer from the Airport to the Campus or Hotel

Whenever you arrive, here are volunteers with sign of “ICMI-EARCOME 3” at each airport to help you transfer to the campus or your hotel on Aug. 5, 6, and 7

A If you arrive at Pudong Airport (PVG), three ways could be chosen:

         i. Take a taxi at the airport directly to the campus or hotel. It will take about 90 minutes to the Campus. The taxi fare will be showed on the meter on taxi and recorded on receipt at last. It will be about RMB 180.00 (US$ 23.00). If you would like to share a taxi with other participants, the price is quite acceptable.

ii. Take the airport shuttle bus from the airport to the Shanghai airport city terminal in the center of the city. It will take about 60 minutes to the terminal building and the bus fare is about RMB 20.00 (US$ 2.50). There are volunteers over there on Aug. 5, 6, and 7. They will help you to take a taxi to the campus or your hotel. It will take about 30 minutes and cost about RMB 30.00 (US$ 4.00). The taxi fare may be as your reference if you go to your hotel from the building.

iii. Take the maglev train from the airport to its terminal---LongYang RD. station, which will take about 7minutes and 20seconds. Its common single ticket costs RMB 50.00 (US$ 6.50) each person and VIP RMB 100.00 (US$ 12.50). You will get 20% discount if you can show an intraday flight ticket (one flight ticket just for one discount ticket). The train will be on service every 20min, from 8:31---17:31 everyday. Then you can change to a taxi or change to the subway line 2. However, the exits of maglev train station are not connected with the entrances of the subway station directly. You may have to ask the staff of the maglev train station for the way to the subway station.

          a)      If you change to taxi at LongYang RD., it will take about 45 minutes to the Campus or the center of the city. The taxi fare will be about RMB 100.00 (US$ 12.50).

         b)      If you change to subway line 2 at LongYang RD., it will take you 45 minutes to arrive at its terminal ---ZhongShan Park station, with RMB 4.00 (US$ 0.50) subway fare.  Then you can take a taxi from the ZhongShan park subway station to our campus conveniently. It will take you 15 minutes and cost RMB 10.00 (US$ 1.50).

B If you arrive at Hongqiao Airport (SHA) (Usually from other cities in China to Shanghai), you could take a taxi directly to the campus or your hotel. The taxi fare will be about RMB 35.00 (US$ 4.50) to the campus.

    3)  Travel within the city

We suggest you take a taxi or subway, which are both safe, convenient and fast. You may ask for a cab any time at the hotel reception desk. The taxi fare and the subway fare are both depending on the distance you cover.

    4)  Travel to Train Station

There are two main train stations in Shanghai. One is located in the city center, named Shanghai Railway Station. You can either take a taxi or subway line 1 or Pearl line 3 to the Station. The other Station is named Shanghai South Railway Station.  which is a stop of the subway line 1.
